Ron Webb has been South Muskoka’s CPGA golf professional since its inception, with a brief hiatus in the 1980s. While some say he must have been born with a microphone in his hand, it was more likely a putter. Ron was introduced to golf at the Timmins Golf Club under the tutelage of CPGA Professional Len Diplock who later gave him first job as a Pro at Kleinburg Golf Club. Ron was soon named Head Professional at Bigwin Island Golf Club, before opening South Muskoka Curling and Golf Club in 1974, where the first pro shop was the trunk of his 1966 Mustang.

Ron has always paid special attention to our junior golfing members, organizes a fantastic program for them, and takes enormous pride in their accomplishments both on and off the golf course. The Club has now sent 16 Bracebridge juniors on to college on golf scholarships.

Working with the Golf Committee, Ron and his wife Jennifer organize a great selection of tournaments for Club members, as well as open and invitational events such as the Shier’s Two Man Better Ball and Tagwagi, our famous fall get together. The Club’s Men’s and Ladies’ Night programmes are tremendously successful, thanks to Ron’s enthusiasm, dedication and creativity. These weekly events are open to guests.

The Pro Shop is fully stocked with everything golfers will need. A platinum brand PING account, Ron’s shop also carries a variety of quality clubs, clothing and footwear, all very competitively priced. CPGA Assistant Professional Erin Thorne is an excellent instructor and offers an extensive lesson program to suit golfers of all ages and abilities. Call Ron at the Pro Shop to discuss your golfing needs.
