2011 Shier’s Better Ball
120 players took part in the 2011 version of the Shier’s 2 Man Better Ball this past weekend at South Muskoka. The event kicked off with an 18 hole practice round Friday afternoon, followed by 36 holes of team stroke play on the weekend. The weatherman threatened to spoil the party on Saturday but clear skies arrived just in time for the 1:00 pm start.
Rob Chiki of Niagara teamed with his long-time partner Bob Goulding of Seagrave to capture the Low Gross title with a score of 4 under par 140. the overall net championship went to Dodington & Konrad who shot 119 and won the tiebreaker. The John Shier Memorial trophy for the low net round Sunday was won by the team of Kelly & Aisthorpe with a score of 60.
In the Black Fly Flight, Schmidt and Lehman took home low gross honours, while Clifford and Flagler won the net. The Deer Fly gross championship went to Parker and Hosinger, with Witherspoon and Fallwell winning low net. The Mosquito Flight low gross was won by Dero and Olynik and the net title was claimed by the team of Malloch and Beausoleil.
