Larose-Lorenzini Wins Parise

Sue Larose-Lorenzini skipped her team of Carol Naish, Cheryl Goldthorp and Jen Hamblin to victory in the 5th annual Denise Parise Memorial bonspiel this past weekend at South Muskoka. They finished 1 3/4 points ahead of the team of Robyne Gardner, Judy Hillman, Sandy Gardiner and Jackie McCutcheon. Denise was a long-time member of the Club who loved her weekly league games and her bonspiels. 48 women matched her reputation for enthusiasm, with a party that lasted until midnight and would have made Denise proud! Thanks to Gerry Parise and family for their participation and contributions to the event, as well as to all other donors and sponsors.

Blekkenhorst Solves Ice and Opponents

Ed Blekkenhorst edged out Bob Lacroix’s Baysville rink on a rather tricky sheet of South Muskoka ice this past weekend, winning the Molson’s Men’s bonspiel. His three game point total was 5 clear of the Mike Michalski rink, who also won all their games but with fewer ends won. David Thomson’s rink placed third. 16 teams were vying for the title, 9 from the South Muskoka club and 7 visitor teams including Roman Kalata and Ron Chong from Oakville. Michael Michalski won the corner to corner shoot, calmly drawing a few inches from the pin, as he had all day long. But Bob Slessor may have been the biggest winner of the day, as he walked away with well over $200 from the 50/50 draw!
