South Muskoka Curling & Golf Club: the best golf value in Muskoka

The Greavette Mixed Golf Classic has been running at South Muskoka since 2003 and after competing every year the sponsor has at last won the trophy. Glenn & Diana Greavette teamed with friends Maggie & Joey Murgel to take home the trophy. They edged Dave & Sandra Wood with Diana & Cliff Hodapp by a single stroke. The Wood/Hodapp team won first place in the Buick Flight, with a 5 shot margin over the second place team of Judy & Rock Thorne with Susan Guchardi and Adam Frederick. Placing second behind the Greavette team in the Cadillac flight were John & Karen Acton with Donna and Dave Chatland.

The Greavette presents players with a unique and challenging format as the four person mixed teams play in pairs with 3 segments of varying formats, 6 holes each of net better ball, alternate shot, and scramble. The Muskoka SnoBombers will host their annual golf tournament at South Muskoka on Friday September 16th. This is always a great event with lots to entertain the participants. There is a great display of sleds and ATV’s around the putting green , and some of them can be won in hole-in-one contests on the course. As well, the club runs its “Wheel of Doom” on the 12th hole – a lucky spin could allow your foursome to play the hole entirely with a mid-iron. An unlucky spin and you might have to play it all with your driver, or even a putter! A great silent auction adds excitement to the dinner and prize presentations which follow play.
